I've been coming here for years. It's not just the great food that deserves attention, it's also the charm & humor of the owner, Ming. Great French Toast, huge portions, and Ming! What else do you need in a breakfast spot. :)

This place is random. We drove by it like 100 times before we saw a Yelp review about its amazing breakfasts. What???? Drive by it again. Stare skeptically at the faded sign. Try it. Ok so the french toast is amazing. The pancakes were pretty good (they are huge) but not as good as the french toast. Potatoes as others have said were really good. They also scramble a good egg and know what over-medium means. Coffee--not a fan. Plus it's served so ridiculously hot that it takes my entire meal to actually become drinkable. Pass. Orange Juice, pretty good...seems freshly squeezed but that might be a pipe dream. It's cheap. Packed on the wkds. Cash only. But it's a must try. French toast!

I love this place. I would not recommended it for groups over 5, just because it's so small. However, if you are looking for a nice breakfast spot this is the place to go. I agree with most other reviews: the OJ is better than any in the area, the bacon is salty, the pancakes are huge any yummy ( order smalls for the kids), the omelettes are very good. Good service every time. Tips: Bring cash, don't park in Rite-Aid parking lot, and go to the counter tell them your table to pay your check.

How I love thee, Ming's Coffee & Tea. Don't go to Ming's if you want amazing decor. There *is* no decor. It's plain and it's basic and it's clean, and that's all that matters because the food here is insanely good. I'm not sure what it says that I'm going crazy for scrambled eggs--maybe other places just don't make them that well, but Ming's cook makes them perfectly: fluffy and moist. The potatoes are stellar--roasted red-skinned potatoes mixed with scallions. Not to mention the brewed hot tea and great coffee. Sriracha on the table is the standard, which goes great with the eggs and potatoes. I will one day get there early enough for steamed dumplings.

Our first time, today, and not our last. Pancakes are huge, Potatoes with the Breakfast Menu were more than enough for the heartiest of appetites, there was a little serving of bananas with my Pancakes. My Wife's Ham and Cheese Omelet would have been enough, HOLD those Potatoes. The down side; Cappuccino had to have been pre-made and not with an Espresso Machine. On the very, plus side, the Orange Juice WAS Freshly Squeezed and with all the Pulp i wanted. They had just opened, on a Sunday Morning, the Crowds that overwhelm the place must have been on their way, because we had a nice, quiet breakfast. We heard about their Dumplings due to Yelp, when we are in need of a late morning alternative and in the neighborhood, we're there!

Ming's is great! Breakfast sandwiches and Pancakes are Huge. everything is fresh and delicious .

You won't get better breakfast! The pancakes, oh my. They are so light with just a subtly crisp at the edge. When you take a bite, it just melts in your mouth. The potatoes are just amazing! They're mixed in with green onions, just a great touch. Fresh squeezed orange juice! Everything on the menu is freshly made, so everything is good. I love supporting this local place. It's so great having a good breakfast place. Ming is hilarious! Cash only! Don't park in the parking lot, the managers at the Rite Aid next door are spiteful and don't like non Rite-Aid customers parking there.

This is my new to go to breakfast joint. Everyone is right the home fries were pretty darn good. The portions were pretty good. If in doubt just go for the one pancake portion, they are huge. Service was very good and done with a smile. We tried to get the steamed dumplings and they were sold out and we went at 930 am , which may be a testament to how good they are, we shall see.

I went there on a Friday around noon. I tried going the day before, but noticed that they close at 1:30 pm. I ordered the locally famous pancakes with a blend of coffee and french vanilla? The pancakes were HUGE! They must have been on the biggest pancakes ever made! The other poster was correct in stating that they were so large, it was folded halfway on the large plate. Pancakes were delicious and coffee was pretty good, not excellent. I will go again, but will try another breakfast entree. I recommend supporting this local jem!

Quick, generous portions, tasty. I found this little breakfast spot a few year back when I lived in my old house. I still visit my old neighborhood and make it a point to pop in for a quick, cheap, delicious breakfast.

Quick service. Large, tasty pancakes. Had enough for leftovers. Omelettes were good too. Very good coffee and tea. Side of breakfast potatoes was huge and came with green onions (a nice variation). Sriracha was on the table in addition to ketchup and syrup, much appreciated. The menu also has dumplings, but they sell out early. Depending on what time you come, you may have to wait in line. Weekend mornings are popular. Cash only. Don't park in the Rite Aid lot, they are enforcing towing.

Strange little hole in the wall diner, but I really enjoyed the brunch I got there a couple of weeks ago. Prices were very reasonable, food was good, and I liked that the portion sizes were filling without being enormous.

I have been to Ming's several times over quite a span of years. This time was the first for breakfast. Whether it has been lunch or breakfast, you will never leave Ming's hungry. Today I got the eggs over easy with crispy bacon. This was two perfectly cooked eggs, four strips of bacon, a generous portion of new potatoes with green onion, and two slices of toast. My partner ordered two pancakes which were as large as a dinner plate, They were thin and tender. Along with that my partner ordered two eggs and a side of ham. All that plus two coffees and a fresh squeezed OJ for $20. The OJ reminded me of the smell of wheat grass. Not sure if you get refills on the coffee as you order either a small or a large. We took half of the potatoes and half of the pancakes home. Service was from an older gentleman and to the point. Ming is always great with a dry sense of humor. Plenty of regulars here who ordered "the usual." Will continue to return.

The best food in Drexel Hill/Havertown. Pancakes and breakfast sandwiches are the best I have ever had for breakfast. Their soup and shrimp Mei Fun is the best for lunch. Great home made teas. The place is really good while Ming and her sister will make you laugh too.

  • Bob N.

Ming's is a delightfully quirky place with a sassy owner who has the potential to put off a new comer, but all the regulars (and most of the customers are regulars) LOVE Ming. The home fries and crispy bacon that accompanies most breakfast plattesr are superb!

  • Adam F.

Ming's is the go to spot for breakfast in the Drexel Hill area. It's a cash-only dive spot that is surprisingly nice and clean inside. Breakfast here is nothing fancy, but good home-made food: bagel sandwiches, omelettes, french toast, pancakes. Must trys are the home fries, pancakes, and french toast. OJ is fresh squeezed. If you are looking for more lunch items, try the fried dumplings or the lo mein.

I started going to Ming's when I needed to use the laundromat across the street and her son was just a toddler. This is the best, most reasonably priced breakfast food in the area. Her restaurant is so clean it sparkles. Then I introduced my sons to Ming's and they and their friends still go there whenever they are in town. Sometimes we still go together but by then its too late for my breakfast but that's ok because then I'm ready for Ming's home cooked MeiFun noodles with chicken or shrimp. Portions are large and it helps to have someone split the homefries with you.

Yes, there will be a line. Yes, you'll sit at mix-and-match tables. And yes, you'll have to deal with the vagaries of a parking lot shared with a Rite Aid. But the lines move quickly, the seating is comfortable, and parking is always a problem in Drexel Hill, so why should your visit to Ming's be any different? There's no better place for breakfast, anywhere. Ming's pancakes are remarkable -- moist, buttery, and flavorful beyond imagining. Ming uses only the freshest of ingredients and keeps a watchful eye over her small but prodigious galley-style kitchen (which runs like clockwork) and table servers who are young, but skilled. Everyone works together to keep things moving. Ming's coffee is the best French Roast I've ever tasted -- and I'm not a fan of dark roasted coffees, especially in the morning. It's hard to know if all of her coffees are the product of a hand-press, but that's how every cup tastes. Never had a single cup delivered to our table which tasted stale, overbrewed or bitter. My wife loves Ming's teas, which are prepared to perfection. So, take a ride to Drexel Hill and enjoy breakfast at Ming's. You'll be delighted.

Definitely doesn't look like much on the outside, but the food is fantastic. We (a group of 6 people) got our food to go, and we ordered a variety of meals: egg platters, breakfast sanwiches, french toast. The french toast was served with fresh banana slices, which was a nice touch. Everything had very generous portions, and my god, the home fries! They were so crispy and flavorful. My eggs were perfectly light and fluffy, and everyone who ordered a sandwich agreed that it was rather tasty. Haven't tried the coffee, but I might if we dine in...

So there used to be a time when I would wake up on a Sunday morning and say, "Boy, I wish I could wait in line for an hour and then eat an amazing breakfast!" This thought process treated me well and afforded me many a great breakfast at the Morning Glory, Sabrina's, the Griddle (LA), Jinky's (LA) or the Home Plate (SF). Those really were the days. I wish I could say that I gave that up because I just don't have the time anymore, but that's not true. I could still easily wait an hour to have breakfast on a weekend. The only issue is that boredom has started to set in. I realized that I could be spending that hour reliving the adventures of Ponce De Leon with the hope that a great breakfast will await me in the end. The new mission: find great breakfast joints that are way off the beaten path. Now of course, I know that I can't expect to have La Colombe coffee, a frittata with salmon, asparagus and goat cheese all the while not having to endure long wait times. Instead, I am in search of atmosphere. Places that feel a bit more real than a bunch of yuppies waiting in line at the awesome breakfast shop that all of their friends had been talking about. Based on a tip from a good friend, we decided to check out Ming Coffee Shop. Located out in beautiful Drexel Hill, just next to the Rite Aid. Ming Coffee Shop does a great breakfast business. The have all of the classic offerings (omelets, pancakes, french toast, eggs..), nothing too fancy. Feeling a bit under the weather, I started with a hot tea. Usually when I order tea, I get a tea bag and some hot water. Today however, that was not the case. Just like restaurants brew coffee, they had already brewed the tea. Personally, I like that much better. For breakfast, I got the cheese omelet. It came with toast and home fries. Everything tasted great and the price was around $4.50. Now the true pleasure in Ming Coffee Shop is the atmosphere. We were seated at a long Rubbermaid folding table. Behind us was a large table filled with a basketball team. Apparently they were pretty popular because lots of patrons would go back and talk to them and wish them luck with their next win. The staff were very pleasant and attentive. All in all it was a pretty good experience. As for the the three stars: I'm glad that I had the opportunity to experience Ming Coffee Shop. If I'm in Drexel Hill and looking for a place to eat, I will probably stop by. Otherwise, I feel like I've been there and done that and need to continue my explorations.

For what it is, Ming's is a great breakfast spot that I recommended to anyone looking for a tons of tasty food for a great price. If your in the mood for diner food but wanna be in and out faster, then this is the place to be!

Small local breakfast place with OK affordable food. One complaint is that the bacon tends to be VERY salty and the orange juice tastes sweetened...probably from a concentrate i would guess. Service is fine and the owner is entertaining to listen too interact with customers. Not a bad place for a quick breakfast and cup of coffee.

  • Michael L.

I like Ming's. The pancakes are absolutely humongous and delicious. The staff and the atmosphere are both very friendly and bright. My only complaint is that the vacation hours aren't posted very far in advance, so if you don't visit Ming's pretty much weekly, you stand a chance of visiting next time and finding them closed.

Brace yourself: I've actually never had breakfast at Ming's. But... I've probably eaten hundreds of her steamed dumplings over the years. They are incredible.

Ming's has the best coffee and orange juice in the area, hands down. On top of that, the pancakes are overwhelmingly large (as in have to be folded in half to fit on the plate) but fluffy and delicious. I've always been very happy with the breakfast sandwiches here as well, and the home fries are pretty darn fantastic. I'm not the only one that loves this little breakfast spot, finding a table can be a bit difficult and the place is always packed. But it's worth taking the chance to get to eat here and if no seats free up, get your breakfast to go. Ming's also serves Asian lunch specials but I have yet to try any. Overall, a great breakfast option at very affordable prices

  • J F.

Ming's has quality bacon, eggs, pancakes, home fries and coffee. It's reasonably priced, too. It's seems that not a lot of people know about this little gem--even those who live in the area. If you want some good breakfast food, try here. The only suggestion that I would give to someone interested in eating here is to arrive early on the weekends. Sometimes, it gets really crowded.

  • Caroline F.

A hidden, local, favorite. At Ming's, not only do you get great food, but a lot of personality when you have the chance to know Ming, herself. Some of the regulars do, and I've seen her whack an old man in the head with a newspaper if she's feeling ornery. (Of course, this old man loved it and like many of the every day regulars, comes for Ming's antics.) On the weekend, the place is jumping for breakfast. Highlights are the pancakes (I don't even like pancakes normally, but these are SO GOOD), the french toast (extra sugary), and all the breakfast sandwiches (bacon, egg & cheese, scrapple egg & cheese, etc). I definitely recommend a side of home fries and an extra large coffee or tea with any choice. If you're a tea fanatic, Ming's has a good selection of exotic ones that she puts straight into hot water and strains into a paper cup. In the case of the Asian food on the menu, you can't go wrong with any of it, especially the mei fun with shrimp, which is my personal favorite. There are only two downsides to Ming's. 1) Sometimes there's a little wait on service. However, once you order, it comes out fast. and 2) The servers are young high school girls who really could smile more. Altogether, GO HERE for breakfast and thank me later.

I lived in Drexel Hill for 6 months back in 2010, I was laid up with a broken leg and was not able to travel far, being single and not wanting to cook i looked for a place to have breakfast. well MING's was heaven sent, the food was always great and Ming with her sense of humor always put a smile on my face. Bravo Ming

This is my favorite go to breakfast joint. It's cash only which is never a problem because you're entire meal (with huge portions) is under 10$ including the either the best green tea (gunpowder) or fresh squeezed OJ. The owners are great...funny and always sweet. Pancakes as big as your plate, crisp bacon and the best eggs in town. Egg meals Are served with half a plate if delicious red potatoes seasoned and perfectly crisp. That also have a to go menu which serves the largest bagel egg, bacon and cheese sandwiches you could imagine. It's a simple little set up, nothing fancy but you definitely get more than you pay for. My only issue is that they don't have wifi and I have zero service in there but then again, I have TMobile...

  • Kayla C.

This place is amazing. You can't go wrong with ordering one of their platters: Eggs your way, toast, a whopping side of home fries and some breakfast meat! All for under $8! Their pancakes are huge...and they must add some sort of special ingredient because they taste spectacular! Coffee and teas are freshly brewed... What more could you need? And if you get here early, the fresh squeezed orange juice is absolutely delicious! If you want a filling breakfast, this place will never fail you. Inexpensive prices for a ridiculously large amount of food. The staff is always friendly and the waitresses are very attentive to your every need. Weekends tend to be busy, but the wait is highly worth it!

  • Courtney H.

Only reason why I am giving this place 1 star is because I never got the opportunity to try it, due to the fact that they were literally closed for MONTHS. Never heard of a business just not opening for months at a time, unless there was construction taking place, etc. However, this place had the same 'closed' sign on the window all this time, with no evidence of any work being done to it. Needless to say, I was very confused.

Great place to have brunch. Its very small place in delco which is supported by locals. Their menu selection isn't too special but what they do serve they always do a great job. You should always get a side of home fries/potatoes with your meal.

    (4)
  • Dee M.

Biggest and best breakfast in Delco, hands down. Inexpensive, huge portions, owner or manager always on site. Good teamwork between the grill and waitstaff. And Clean! They actually move everything around on the tables and scrub it clean. Rarely see that anymore. This place IS CLEAN and any reference to it being a dive is inaccurate.See my pics. Of interest is the fact you can get traditional American breakfasts and Asian items as well. Coffee is served hot the way it should be. Love it here.

Awesome little hole in the wall place for a quick, hearty, and inexpensive breakfast. Large breakfast portion arrives quickly on Dollar Tree plates to add to the ambiance. Service is fast and friendly. Not much more I need to say. They only have a handful of tables. I went on a weekday, and it was no problem.

Love Mings could eat here all the time. The dumplings are a must try if they are available and they have the best Scrapple anywhere you won't find a better piece of scrapple goodness anywhere believe me I have eaten scrapple at a lot of places Mings hands down is the best!!!!

I finally had the chance to experience Ming's for breakfast, seeing I am always at another location. Nice little spot to enjoy a pretty good meal, that was somewhat packed. I was suprised to see this place was somewhat packed during the week, in the summer no less. I could only imagine what kind of mayhem is unleashed during the weekends with the limited seating . I ordered the pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs and ham for my breakfast. One thing I will say is this, they covered my whole plate! Great googly moogly (snickers commercial ) they are no joke with this. I've heard the tales and the rumors of Ming's being plate fillers. The rumors are true I tell you, my pancakes that I had ordered were GINORMOUS. It is so big that they had to fold part of it to fit onto my plate, this is so the scrambled eggs and complimentary sliced bananas could fit. The pancakes were good, not too fluffy though, not that this bothered me. The eggs I had were scrambled with cheese (my choice) they were ok, a little runny, but still were good. Gotta love it when you see Sriracha on the table waiting for you to go crazy with it! My last and final side was a slice of ham I opted for. This too is not small, a nice thick cut that came off the grill. Service was fast and friendly, so the wait time is barely there. I am assuming this is this way they run things, due to the lack of seating. The place is clean and bright, but you would think different from the outside looking in. Parking can be tricky, there is metered parking along the street , but do not park in the lot next to Ming's. This is reserved for the Rite Aid customers, you will get towed. In all a nice little spot to get a pretty descent meal , better yet a filling meal to say. I'd gladly come back to peruse their menu some more.

Fantastic breakfast!! This place is no joke. Be prepared to wait because the people know its good too, and they line up to get it. Try a little sriracha on those potatoes.

  • Andrew S.

Oh Ming's, what can I say that hasn't been said? It's the best breakfast in the area and a must try. The things they do the best, in my humble opinion, are the home fries (seasoned to perfection and enough for 3 people) and the thin pancakes that are slightly crispy on the top and sides -- gooey in the middle and taste like a thin funnel cake with fresh banana on top! Support this neighborhood place, bring friends/ family, and bring cash because it's cash only.

    (5)
  • Andrew T.

Ming's has the best pancakes and French toast anywhere in the area. The Asian side of the menu is equally devastatingly good. Great prices and the service is something you have to enjoy.

Love Mings! Haver never been there for lunch, but I love their breakfast. Staff is extremely polite. The only negative thing is the wait time in the weekend hours.

Ming's is a hidden gem. Big and tasty breakfast at an affordable price. Everything is a la carte so it can add up. Best orange juice I have ever had! I recommend Ming's. Get there early as seating is at a premium.

A decent place to get Breakfast! This dive in Drexel Hill is a very clean restaurant. Just make sure you arrive early on the weekends, It can get quite busy especially on Sundays after Church. I have eaten here twice now because I had cash readily available. I hardly carry cash, it's plastic for this patron. The coffee was piping hot and it didn't take the food long to arrive after we ordered. The French toast was okay I was just expecting 3 pieces. Especially after I saw the pancakes They are HUGE, they take up the whole plate. Bacon was very crispy. Sampled the wife's hash browns, they were okay as well. They were browned and scattered with scallions. Just wished for maybe some peppers and a little paprika. All beverages are served in plastic cups. I guess to keep the dish washing to a minimum. Have also had the eggs which were good as well. So if you are in the area and looking for a tasty breakfast give Ming's a try, you will not be disappointed. Just remember to bring your CASH and some change for the meters. Parking is on the street, you are not permitted to park in the Rite Aid lot.

  • Simpson C.

It's a great brunch place for everything else, but...this bothered me to warrant honest criticism: Skip the French toast if you're expecting the large billowy variety. Instead, you'll get two standard white bread slices found in the wonder bread aisle of your local grocery store, each cut in half, cooked a la French toast style; because of the lack of heft or substantial form, especially when cooked this way the white bread loses its already thin, paltry center mass. Totally inappropriate for a restaurant, and so-so when living in a one room apartment with other struggling roommates (because I'd make four more to compensate).

  • Monica C.

Great, inexpensive breakfast place in Drexel Hill! It's usually pretty crowded on the weekends, but the staff is quick and efficient that the wait time usually isn't too long. The breakfast is always delicious, I love the French toast. I'd recommend keeping your group to a maximum of 6 people because seating is limited. Also, this place is cash-only, but there's an atm in the rite aid next door if you forget cash.

One of the best breakfast spots in Delco. The hash browns are on point.

Mings is totally awesome! It's a hole in the wall in Drexel Hill full of charm, character and delicious food. I came here craving a hearty and tasty breakfast with my sister and brother on Sunday brunch and was pleased with the short wait. Once sat we started with really good coffee and fresh squeezed juice- what could be better?? Shortly after we ordered breakfast (all different variations of the standard 2 eggs, meat, toast, potatoes etc...) and it came out super fast. I don't know what part was best, I think each food is tied for 1st place. The bacon was crisp, the eggs were flavorful and the potatoes the best I've had in a while. I will absolutely be back to Mings and suggest everyone else try it too. But not so many that I can't get a seat!

Tried Ming's out for breakfast today. Portions were huge and very good. The pancakes were delicious and seriously BIG. Shared those and an omelet platter with my friend. Homefries are great and again, there was just too much food. We had a denver omelette and while it was delicious and fresh, the veggies could've been either chopped smaller or cooked a little before they went into the omelet - but that's just a preference of mine. The server was super cute and kept apologizing because they were "so busy", but honestly, there were like 4 tables in there when we walked in...maybe they all sat at once, but I didn't think they were that busy. Food came fairly quickly and was fresh and hot when it arrived. Not a huge assortment of choices on the menu, just the basics, egg platters, omelets, pancakes and french toast. I'd assume they do what they do well, and that's all they do. Points off for cash only, and no fountain sodas. Also, there are two coffee sizes, so I assume they don't give coffee refills :/ It was good, but I won't go out of my way to eat there.

Ming's is definitely my favorite breakfast joint ever!! It has become a regular spot for me and my girlfriend. Anything on the menu is good. The french toast is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The bacon is cooked to perfection and the food is always fresh. Ming as well as the other employees are very nice and attentive to every customers needs. My only complaint is that at times the fresh lemonade is too sweet. It seems like it depends on who makes it. Another reviewer did comment about Ming's being closed for a long period of time. I did find this most unusual when I showed up one morning and found out they were closed for a month or so. This was certainly a disappointment. I have not seen this occur more than once and this isn't a regular event. Ming's always is pretty busy when we go there but the wait is never long. They also allow to take-out so if you don't want to wait be sure to call ahead. Based off the price, the customer service, and the large amount of food for the cost this place gets 5-stars without reservations. It is hard to find the quality food at Ming's for that price.
